About Kimberly Nelson, RN

“There are people whose presence is encouraging…the sense of encouragement you feel from them is not simply their words or their gestures: it is rather their whole presence enfolding you and helping you find the concealed door.”

– John O’Donahue

My lifetime career in nursing has been focused on mental health and nursing education. I am a registered nurse and currently teach adjunct in an online nursing program. Whether I have been meeting with a client or a struggling student, I see the interaction as a privilege. My goals in teaching have been to make visible and valuable for nursing students the skill sets of communication, empathy, and self-awareness as essential to the healing of all persons they encounter.

I am a mother of a beautiful, blended family of six grown children, their partners, and six grandchildren. They all teach me so much about myself every day. Through my work and my personal life tapestry of love, loss, grief, and joy, I have come to embrace personal growth and the spiritual journey. My emotions have been a great teacher and healer and continue to be. I am deeply influenced by the power of nature as an essential element to my health and well-being.

I believe that we all have our own answers to what we need inside of ourselves, but we sometimes require assistance in “hearing ourselves”.

Whether it’s physical, emotional, or mental well-being that is needed, I believe the gift of compassionate and wise communication will help guide others towards a deeper understanding of their own answers for growth and healing. Listening is not passive. It’s active in that it allows and encourages us to self-reflect, feel, and move forward toward our desired goals. I love working together with other human beings in this interactive pursuit of better living. I am grateful for this time in my life when I can offer this for others outside of the constraints of the healthcare and insurance systems.

Words that guide my business practice are wellness, lightness, perspective, simplicity, service, and humility.

I look forward to working with you!

Kim
